this is called Sole Survivor, the story of a guy who survived 133 days, alone, on a raft after his ship was torpedoed during WW2. who the crap can do that?! i can imagine struggling for maybe a week or so, but 4 months? thats just unbelievable. he had to come up with a make-shift fishing line and hook so he could eat raw fish when his emergency food supply ran out. he had to rig his raft so he could catch and store rain water during storms. it even tells of a ship that came up to him and then turned away when they saw he was chinese. how do you not give up after that? i first read this in 5th grade and have wanted to read it again ever since, so i finally found it on amazon.com and bought it. it really is a remarkable story. its incredible how much someone can endure simply in the hopes of staying alive. One time I went 133 days without missing a single field goal, you don't see me writing a book about that, some people'll do anything to be famous, others of us are much more humble in our accomplishments.
